Little In Between Moments

Hi friends!

This week I received my final mixes of all the songs I’m releasing in the new year and they’re officially sent off too be mastered! The process sounds confusing if you’re not use to music lingo but basically it’s almost done! It’s been no secret that this year has been full plans changing. I really thought the six songs I recorded this time last year in the studio would be out in the world by now, but I’m learning patience. and it’s a virtue I’ve never really possessed. Practice makes perfect?

I’m deciding to focus on the amazing accomplishments I did complete this year thank to you guys! We reached 1,000 subscribers on YouTube, 1,000 TikTok followers so I can now go live, and new friends were made at a lot of my shows this year. You guys showed up for me in so many ways and the responses I’ve gotten to Mountain Honey has been so heart warming. Making the music video was a highlight for sure this year! I can’t wait for you guys to hear this next stage of my music.

I wish I had more exciting things going on to share, but every December life slows down a bit for me and in the music industry world. A lot of my every day life is spent working my part time job (that I truly love so much!) and the little moments in between. I feel like that sums up everyone’s life, though; it’s all about the little moments in between. So here’s a few highlights in my life lately:

1) My drummer, Paul Graham, made a trip out to Tennessee before Thanksgiving to play at Kokomo’s with me. I had mentioned how fun it would be for him to join and then ride home to North Carolina with me. Sure enough, he bought a plane ticket and came out. It was so special having one of my dearest, longest, and best friends with me for the day. I took him on a very minimal site seeing tour in Franklin (Sorry Paul haha) since our time was limited. After our show, everyone at Kokomos sang Happy Birthday to me and treated me so special. Paul enjoyed the desserts gifted to us in honor of my old age. We both couldn’t pronounce the yummy dish but we had a lot of laughs trying. I felt so celebrated and loved!

2) I was gifted a cook book by my mom for my birthday and my latest hobby has been trying to actually get better at it. I’m not bad, but it’s hard when you live alone and you’re cooking for one. My trick is to put on my favorite playlist, light my Christmas tree, pour a glass of wine, and make an event out of it. Turns out, it’s super fun! Probably made a little easier by the air fryer my grandma gave me. I have definitely been missing out!

3) If you follow me on TikTok then you know I participated in my first NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). The goal was to write 50,000 words of a novel. I started with absolutely no plan on November 1st and by the end of the month I reached well over my word count goal. I didn’t realize how much I would enjoy writing a story and getting lost in it. I have a good feeling I’ll be finished writing the first draft by the new year. Note: For those who have asked, it’s a contemporary romance novel!

4) Another recent little moment in life has been going to karaoke with friends at Kokomos. It’s been a joy to see people get on stage and take nothing seriously. My heart needs that reminder that music is first and foremost suppose to be FUN!

5) Wrapping up my life lately, I celebrated Christmas at my work Christmas party. The theme was dress up as your favorite Christmas character and I borrowed a Rudolph onesie from a neighbor. I ended up MC’ing the White Elephant game and now I’m considering a career change into comedy haha. Seriously though, I love my work family. CrossFit has been such a wonderful community when I live so far away from my own family.

Let me know in the comments some of your ‘little life moments’ lately!

Still thinking on my word for 2024….. We shall see!

xx Carson
